Client
Population
Children are referred to the Storey Program by Children’s Aid Societies and Child
and Family Services Agencies within the Province of Ontario.
Storey
Homes serves youth who have a wide range of problems, both emotional and behavioural.
Children placed with us are normally between 4 to 16 years of age. Occasionally,
extended care is provided if special circumstances warrant this prolonged stay
in our care.
Children
must have sufficient inner controls to participate in community programs (e.g.,
mainstream school, recreation, or possibly employment).
Our
mixed modality and foster homes (live-in-staff supported) are not equipped
to deal with certain disorders including, pyromania, highly aggressive, violent
individuals, or children with serious sexual behaviours that are primarily
child related.
Length
of Stay
Our
average length of stay may vary depending on the needs of the child and family.
Occasionally, extended care is provided if special circumstances warrant this
prolonged stay in our care. We have no maximum limit on the length of time
children stay with us. Reception Programs are considered short-term placements
with a goal of establishing the child’s long-term needs.
The Quinte Assessment and Treatment
Group/Quinte Counselling Services Inc. monitors the treatment program. Individual,
group and psychological assessments are provided through this service.
